How Seattle Neighborhoods Got Their Names

mapleleafmanagement • April 1, 2014

A big thanks to Rita Lindle  for sharing this fun article about our neighborhoods.  I was very surprised how many of these interesting facts I didn’t know.

“The name for the north Seattle community Maple Leaf either came from the Maple Saw Mill which operated nearby or the trees which once grew in the area.  There is also an apocryphal story that Maple Leaf was so far north of downtown Seattle that it got its name for being near Canada.”

Either way, I’m happy to call Maple Leaf my neighborhood community and so is everyone else at the office.  Make sure to check out the Northgate and Green Lake Descriptions.  Click here to read more about all the different neighborhoods in Seattle! Enjoy!
